Gävle, the regional capital of Gävleborg, encompasses several national authorities and public sectors. The head offices for governmental public authorities such as Lantmäteriet, Statens Servicecenter, the Swedish Agency for Work Environment Expertise and the future Swedish ESF Council are all located in Gävle, as well as the Swedish Transport Administration’s head office, the regional office for the ESF Council and the University of Gävle. Regional public authorities such as Länsstyrelsen (the County Administrative Board) Region Gävleborg, the Police, the Social Insurance Agency and the Tax Agency also contribute to the specialisations of the public sector.
